Driving the Next Generation of Talent to Your Dealerships

Staffing remains one of the biggest challenges facing Alberta’s dealerships. As the industry evolves, finding and attracting skilled workers—especially young talent—is critical to long-term success. That’s why the MDA is committed to supporting its members with solutions that help address workforce shortages in the automotive sector.

Introducing Career Driven

Career Driven is an interactive online experience designed to make career exploration fun and engaging. This participant-driven tool helps dealerships attract new high school aged talent by showcasing various career opportunities in an immersive way.

Through Career Driven, young people can explore different roles within a dealership by interacting with virtual employees who share their career stories. Instead of reading static job descriptions, users get a more personal and engaging perspective on each role.

The experience focuses on entry-level positions, making it especially valuable for those looking to start a career right after high school.

Career Driven has two key components:

Students can explore career paths independently, while dealers can access tools like the customizable PowerPoint to introduce Career Driven in classrooms and other settings.

To provide salary insights, we’ve used the Government of Alberta’s ALIS website as a standardized source of information. While salaries may vary between dealerships, this resource ensures we are using constant estimates across the province. 

We’ve made this program easy to customize and use. The website is ready to go, and is now live. The PowerPoint is protected within the MDA Member area, and there are instructions on how you can customize this to meet your needs.

For each position, details such as position title, compensation, hours, description, traits/skills/attributes and prerequisites can be edited to fit the requirements of your specific dealership. You can focus on current vacancies, or just talk about the positions in your dealership.
