REBROADCAST Webinar: International Technician and Trades Initiative

For those who missed the original broadcast, tune in to learn more about the program to attract qualified, trained technicians for your service drives and/or body shops.

As the demand for qualified, skilled workers (automotive service technicians and body shop technicians) continues to increase in Alberta, MDA members have an opportunity to participate in a proven recruitment process currently operating in Ontario, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan.  The Motor Vehicle Retailers of Ontario (formerly TADA) have been utilizing this program for two years now with positive feedback from participating dealers.

The program enlists the expertise of JobGo Solutions, a Canadian organization specializing in international recruitment.  JobGo has experience supporting organizations like Carstar, NAPA Autopro, Fix Auto and Olymel.  MVRO efforts are currently focused on candidates in the Philippines.

Participants can expect candidates who have a minimum 5 years of experience, speak English to the standard for federal government immigration and enter the country on a 2-year work permit.  JobGo manages the recruitment, testing, immigration and legal requirements on behalf of the candidate.  Dealers are expected to participate remotely in the selection process, assist in sourcing housing for the candidate, providing tools (or a tools allowance) and meeting the pay equity requirements for journeypersons in Alberta.
